| 27 Nov 2011 | Friendly | Harlow RFC | Away | Win | 15 | 3 | Report | Game 1. Harlow 2-5 Chingford Chingford came out, and laid down the gauntlet to a larger Harlow team, and took the game straight to them. A great opening contest with both teams making some great tackles. Chingford’s tackling was getting plenty of turnover ball from which we offloaded at the breakdown. This lead to some fine tries that would eventually prove to be decisive in this first match.
Game 2. Harlow 0-7 Chingford Chingford really came to play in this match. Our tackling was getting stronger and the teamwork was really showing. There was some great hands, and some bigger tackling, every time Harlow threatened Chingford defended the line with power and eventually with the defence winning the tackling battle pushed Harlow back and turned the ball over which lead to a flurry of tries for Conor Medhurst who bagged a double hatrick in this one. A great victory for the Ching.
Game 3. Harlow 1-3 Chingford The final game of a great mornings rugby saw Harlow take an early with a quick try. Again Chingford stood our ground with some great goal line defence which would eventually turn into another team attack, and with some great hits going in lead to an equalising try. This would inspire the Black White and blue into taking control of this match and a further couple of tries would seal the win.
Overall Score. Harlow 3-15. |
| 4 Dec 2011 | Friendly | Finchley RFC & Hammersmith and Fulham RFC | Away | Loss | 7 | 20 | Report | Under 9’s – The Junior Vikings. Game 1. Chingford 6-2 Finchley. The boys seemed to still be on a high from last week, and carried it into the opener. We had some great passing and moving, Thomas Quill at scrum half, and Bailey Francis led from the front as they attacked the opposition. With Emile Swain, Harvey Wilkins, and Joe Wilkes winning the tackle and ball would eventually lead to Thomas and Bailey grabbing a hat-rick of tries each. Some great tackling from Oakley Townsend, Archie Kendall, and Andrew Storm set up some great plays that would eventually lead us to an opening victory. A great beginning.
Game 2. Finchley 7-0 Chingford The hosts really came to play in the next match up and showed how we should play this great game. Our tackling never let up but the hosts appeared to outmuscle us in attack and bulldozed through for a couple of scores. Wave after wave of Chingford attack was stopped in its tracks by some dogged defending. They had some big lads in there who were just as quick as ours and in the end proved worthy winners.
Game 3. Chingford 1-7 Finchley. A similar game to the previous match. Finchley attacked from the off and made us pay for some poor passing, the hosts took their opportunities well, and just as Samuel Cooper went in for the score just before half time it looked as though we may mount a comeback. With the cold wind biting we began to waiver a little in the 2nd half and Finchley became stronger and the result was never in doubt.
Game 4. Hammersmith 4-0 Chingford. We started off well with some good passing, and tackling but just couldn’t break through the Hammersmith lines. Some good rucking by the opposition led to some early scores, but as we started to come back a knock on led to a loose ball and Hammersmith wrapped up the victory in the final match |
