| 10 Sep 2011 | Friendly | Romford & Gidea Park 2XV RFC | Away | Loss | 26 | 34 | Report | Chingford made a slow start against a strong Romford 2nd team, with most Romford's points being accumulated in the first half. Chingford came to life in the second half and showed the strength of the squad. A good start to the season and thank you to the help from the Colt's that showed up. |

| 5 Nov 2011 | League | Chelmsford III RFC | Home | Win | 42 | 8 | Report | Saturday saw a very good Chingford team take on a good Chelmsford side. After a hesitant start which saw Chelmsford take the lead with an early penalty Chingford started to play well as the size, strength and power of the forwards began to tell up front. The forwards began to punch holes in the Chelmsford defence and it was good to see the off loading game put to good effect as Chingford forwards and backs combined effectively to support each other.
Good bursts particularly from Henry, Luke, Leo and Richard Clements saw several tries scored before half time, the pick of which was a great effort by Richard Clements. After the break the backs began to enjoy the freedom given to them by the forwards and Joe Etteridge began to make telling bursts from an unfamiliar role at ten which required several players to stop him before setting up the ball for the support coming from Steve Richmond and the flankers. Richard Clements and Matt began to pick off the Chelmsford line out and the introduction of Steffan and Matt Yardley only added to the size, if not the beauty of the team which began to pile on the pressure which Chelmsford fought to control. Chelmsford scored a nicely worked try just after half time. After injuries saw a restructuring of the backline and the unfamiliar sight of Shuttle being carried off the pitch Chingford began to play well and the try off the match was scored by Matt as he followed through a powerful run by Big Show who displayed great skill and timing to deliver a pass which belies his years as a prop and can only add to his status as a future coach at the club with Joby as his understudy.
Chelmsford continued to try and break the Chingford line and were unlucky enough to acquire a flanker/winger who remarkably held onto the ball when tackled thus giving possession back to Chingford. Special thanks to the props John, Billy and Craig who kept the scrum under control and allowed Chingford to use it to launch Henry into space.
Chingford continued to play well and the score finished 42 - 8 to Chingford. This result demonstrated the strength in depth and commitment off all players involved considering the strength in depth on the side lines. It was great to see so many people watching the game who all remarked on the depth (and the size) of the squad and the standard of play of both teams. |
| 12 Nov 2011 | League | Braintree III RFC | Away | Win | 36 | 18 | Report | Todays Match report Chingford won 36 - 18
Chingford arrived at Braintree with a strong team and duly came away with a win. Unfortunately Ian Marshall suffered a serious leg injury, a broken leg and dislocated ankle. We all send him our best wishes and hope for a good recovery from a serious injury.
Today's game again saw good driving play from the forwards who kept Braintree pinned back and prevented their forwards from gaining any momentum. The backs played well and clinically finished off several good moves which reflected well on a very make shift back line including Adam the Hooker playing centre.
Joe had a remarkable day with the boot slotting all but one of his kicks including two fantastic kicks wide out on the touchline on a very wide pitch. Braintree played a full part in the game coming from two tries down to virtually equalise at half time and make the second half more tense than it need to have been until the Chingford forwards took control with some fantastic scrummaging repeatedly pushing Braintree off the ball and creating immense pressure.
Matt the centre also scored three good tries showing how well the backs are beginning to finish off good moves created by the driving play of the forwards particularly Henry, Matt Yardley and Luke.
I would also like to add that Joby was unavailable today as he was installing the coaches boiler! A clash of priorities perhaps? I am sure Henry could have gone without hot water for a few hours! In future all players (and coaches) are to abstain from using "Odd Job Joby" to carry out essential home maintenance on Saturdays! He is available at any other time! |

| 3 Dec 2011 | League | Thurrock III RFC | Home | Win | 31 | 0 | Report | Thanks for the great response again this week as we were able to put onto the field a very strong team which included a lot of experience and plenty of guile.
The midfield pairing of Steve and Danny showed their experience in both scoring good tries demonstrating that once you've got it you don't lose it, it just gets rusty! The game started well for Chingford with the forwards gradually extending their dominance and Joe and Nick pulling the strings well at ten and nine. I think it began to dawn on the team very early on that this game was definately ours to lose as we began to make telling inroads into their territory, with Joby running several kicks back powerfully and beating defenders.
As the forwards began to make space moving forward our lead was established from some powerful running from the midfield as first Steve and then Joe crashed over to record back to back tries. Joe, Danny, Joby and Steve were proving particulalrly elusive and hard to bring down.
As the game moved on and Chingford began to exert some dominance it became obvious that training was paying off as both the forwards and backs looked to off load the ball when tackled which resulted in several good tries. Thurrock made several strong attacks during the game but it again became evident that another aspect of training was paying off as well as very few tackles were missed and players were often dislodging ball looses and pushing players backwards.
Special thanks to Adam and Gavin who both played in an unfamiliar position. It was a pleasure to see Adam running well in the loose.
A special thanks must be given to Shuttle for refeering well in I think his first mens game.

| 14 Jan 2012 | League | Eton Manor III RFC | Home | Win | 62 | 8 | Report | After a late team gathering and a few heart palpitations for the captain as players failed to materialise on time due to traffic, Tottenham games, in laws and
kit locked in the shed by the girl friend syndrome (I don't think she wanted you to play Tom) the game kicked off with Chingford establishing domination and scoring two good tries from the half backs, Nick and Joe showing good pace and power. Eton Manor fought back and put in five minutes of pressure which saw us having to defend our line which the team did well, not panicking and eventually forcing a penalty which saw Joe clear our lines.
Both the scrum and the lineout were working well which saw Chingford repeatedly put pressure on the opposing lines and saw Little Tom score a good try breaking through the defence at pace. Chingford continued to create and score tries which demonstrated growing fluency and pace in the backs. Training seemed to be paying off as Chingford repeatedly took the ball into contact and recycled quickly through good pop passes and good rucking.
The game continued to be dominated by Chingford and it was nice to see all eight of the forwards power over the line after an excellent catch from Richard and powerfull driving from the rest of the pack saw Henry score after Eton Manor were pushed back from outside the 22.
The second half began with a good try from Chingford as Matt continued to score tries in the corner finishing off an excellent move. Eton Manor hit back with a good try of their own. Chingford spent the next ten minutes resting on their laurels before Matt scored a beautifull try gathering a great pass from Taylor who for a prop showed a surprising amount of pace and fantastic skill to draw his player before releasing a great pass.
A fantastic performance from the team with special thanks to Ryan who proved a great find at prop.
