| 18 Sep 2011 | Friendly | Finchley RFC | Home | Win | 51 | 24 | Report | Sunshine greeted the boys for the first match of the season. Given that both Chingford and Finchley wanted to give as many players ‘game time’ as possible the match was played in four quarters. From the off Chingford attacked Finchley and soon had a scrum within their 22. The scrum was lost, Finchley got the ball out to their centre who evaded many tackles to score in the corner. Chingford rallied and at 8 minutes Patrick fielded a ball by the line, gained good ground before getting the ball to Matt Lumb who made it to half way. The ball was quickly recycled by Max who outstripped the defence to score. The first quarter was brought to an end after a good tackle by Chingford turned the ball over and Max ran out wide to score. Ching 10 - Finchley 5. With less than 2 minutes of the play in the 2nd quarter, Chingford got the ball near the line. From the ruck new boy Ellis picked up and dived over. The remainder of the half was shared between both teams with particularly strong work put in by Sam Fitzgerald. At 11 minutes Chingford got the ball to Ben who was in space. He beat the player on the outside, then managed to evade some desperate tackles to dot down under the posts. Reece converted to secure a 22-5 lead. The first 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter belonged to Finchley with their centres scoring 3 trys at 1, 3 and 5 minutes on both sides of the pitch. This meant they now led by 2 points ! Following a tough under the posts talk by Sam Fitzgerald, the boys tightened up their defence and concentrated on getting the lead back. At 10 mins Chingford won a scrum at half-way, got the ball out quickly to their backs and Ben then outstripped the defence to score under the posts to regain the lead at 29-24. The 4th quarter started with Finchley making great ground on the blind for their forward to cross the line, but he failed to touch down before going out of play. This had the effect of invigorating Chingford who scored 2 great trys from their backs – the first to Ben who used his pace, the second one to Matt Marie who took the ball out wide, cut inside and touched down without a hand being laid on him. Sam Robbens then scored a great try following a pickup from the base of the scrum and running unchallenged down the blind. The game ended with a good passing move which allowed Ellis to get his second try. | 2 Oct 2011 | Friendly | Chelmsford RFC | Away | Win | 69 | 0 | Report | The heat wave was still ongoing when the boys met the Chelmsford ‘2nds’ for a friendly match. Given the hot conditions, the game was split into an initial period of 20 minutes and 2 periods of 10 minutes with rolling subs and lots of water the order of the day ! The game couldn't’t have started better for Ching, after winning a line-out in their own half, Sam Robbens got the ball and ran strongly towards the line, evading many tackles to score in the first minute. From the kick off, Ching secured ball, and Max peeled off from the back of the maul to gallop clear down the wing. Matt Lumb converted both trys. This woke Chelmsford up who made a game of it and were winning the set pieces and doing well in the rucks and mauls. At 15 minutes Ching were camped in the Chelmsford half, forcing a defensive kick. This was fielded by Matt playing full back who ran the ball strongly back to score. He converted his own try. At 16 minutes, Ching won the line-out, the ball was spread out on the backs, and Max, playing in the back-line got the ball and took the ball wide to spring in under the posts for a try leaving Ching to win the half 24-0. Within a minute of the second session, Ching found themselves in the Chelmsford 22. From the base of the ruck, Max picked the ball up and passed to Nick Arnold in support who powered over for his first try in Chingford colours. Ching started to even up the set piece contest with great work from Sam Fitzgerald, Will McGilivray and the rest of the forwards. At 5 minutes, the scrum was won against the head and the ball went quickly out the backs to Matt Lumb who ran strongly to the line, with Reece converting. At 8 minutes Chingford once again won a scrum in the middle of the field. And ran the ball through the backs to inside the Chelmsford 22. From the 2nd phase Max got close and the ball was quickly recycled from Reece to Syrus who took route one and crashed over for his first try of the season. 2 minutes later and the Chingford scrum was operating really well with the ball once again out to the backs, and some good interplay from James Willis to Ben Maru enabled Ben to score following a great sprint to the line and lead the 2nd session 50-0. From the kick off, the ball was fielded by Nick who charged his way past some desperate tackles to score his 2nd try. Max then got his 3rd try of the day at 4 minutes following another good line-out win from Ching and a strong run by Max. 2 minutes later Max got his 4th try following a great run towards the line by Jack Johnson who was held close, but Max was on hand to finish. The game ended with Jack and Jordan combining to go ever so close, but the referee blew the game to an end enabling a well deserved drink for all players and supporters. Scorers – Trys Max Rabey (4),Nick Arnold (2), Matt Lumb (2), Ben Maru, Syrus Nikbakht, Sam Robbens Conversions – Matt Lumb (4), Reece Daltrey (2), Ben Maru (1) Sam Fitzgerald, Adam Wakeling, Robbie Cook, Peter Young, Jordan Hillier, Daniel Bingham, James Willis, Max Rabey (c), Sam Robbens, Reece Daltrey, Conor Monaghan, Matt Lumb, Ben Maru, Charlie Wilkes, Will McGillivray, Jack Johnson, Nick Arnold, Brandon Cox, syrus Nikbakht, Ellis Flaherty |

| 16 Oct 2011 | League | Cup 1st Round | Loss | 12 | 56 | Report | Eton Manor conceded the cup win to us, so we played Amersham in a friendly instead Sunday 16th October Amersham 56 – Chingford 12 With Eton Manor conceding the cup game, the fixture against Amersham was hastily arranged in its place. We knew going into the match that Amersham would be a good test – we met them a the end of season tournament where they just beat us, and they went on the play their B team in the final, so a lot of talent would be on show ! The game started very well for us with Ching attacking their half, and Amersham being forced to concede penalty after penalty. After 7 minutes of pressure, Ching had nothing to show and Amersham kicked the ball deep. They managed to secure possession, and some good fast passing saw them score the first try. At 12 minutes they won a good scrum, and once again spun the ball out wide to score a further try. Despite Ching competing well, Amersham were able to secure possession from a line-out on 15 mins and score their 3rd try to lead 15-0. Once again Ching were attacking their line, when Amersham again kicked deep, and the chaser managed to tackle our player and force the ball over for their 4th try. Ching again were superb at rucking the ball, and winning 2nd phase possession, however were being stopped in mid-field. The half was brought to an end with another Amersham score, this time from a line-out which they secured from half way and once again got quick ball out to their backs. HT 25-0 Ching started the 2nd half very strongly and won a penalty in the first minute which they elected to kick. Unfortunately Matts kick went wide. Ching kept the pressure up and got very close to line. Ching were awarded a penalty which Sam Robbens tapped and passed to Sam Fitzgerald who forced his way over with Matt converting. Amersham then attacked the Ching line, and some great defence by Will and the forwards managed to keep them at bay. At 9 mins Ching won a scrum in their own 22 and Sam got clean ball to Reece and Ben who beat his man, running the ball into the 22 before being caught. From the field possession Ching attacked the Amersham line, and after a couple of penalties were conceded, the referee yellow carded the Amersham player. From the penalty, Sam Robbens again tapped the penalty and the forwards drove to the line. Max picked up from the base of the ruck and dotted down to cut Amershams lead to 25-12. The last quarter of the game belonged to Amersham who’s strong running backs and intelligent play produced 5 trys to secure a good win. Overall a good run out for the boys who learnt a lot from a side that was filled with county level players. It was pleasing that despite this talent Ching dominated the first and third quarters, but unlike Amersham did not score enough points when they were given the opportunity Sam Fitzgerald, Will McGillivray, Peter Young, Jordan Hillier, James Willis, Max Rabey (c), Sam Robbens, Reece Daltrey, Conor Monaghan, Matt Lumb, Ben Maru, Charlie Wilkes, Jack Johnson, Nick Arnold, Brandon Cox, Ellis Flaherty, Patrick Love | |
| 23 Oct 2011 | League | Maldon RFC | Home | Win | 53 | 0 | Report | Chingford 53 – Maldon 0 The first league game of the season was always going to be a challenge for the boys, but Ching started the brightest. Handling errors did show early on, but after 5 minutes Ching were camped on the Maldon line. From the scrum near the line, Max picked up and drove over. Matt Lumb curled a great conversion in to make it 7-0. Ching began to dominate possession with particularly good work by Jack Johnson in the line-out. Maldon also began to commit many players to the rucks and mauls, allowing the gaps to appear. At 10 mins Ching won a lineout at half-way, Sam Robbens passed the ball to Ben who spotted a gap and shrugged off a couple tackles and sprinted in for the 2nd try. At 14 mins Maldon were forced to kick. The ball was fielded by Patrick who ran the ball strongly back. From the tackle he laid the ball back to Max who galloped around the outside for his 2nd try. From the kick-off the ball was fielded by Jack who went on a barracking run but was tackled near the line. He managed to get the ball back and Sam Robbens passed the ball to Syrus who scored. At 22 minutes with Ching enjoying 95% possession and territory, Matt got the ball from in his half and sprinted around the outside, cutting in to dot down under the posts. Bens 4th shot at goal paid dividends with the score now 29-0. The half was brought to an end with Max’s hat-trick try. This followed good work from Jack, supported by James and Patrick. HT 34-0 Ching started the 2nd half looking to finish the game off as quickly as they could, and were unlucky not to score in the first minute. After 3 minutes of play Syrus made a great break and was supported by new boy Emmanuel to score his first try in Chingford colours which Ben converted. At 6 minutes Ching had an attacking scrum on the Maldon line. This was due to another great break by Matt, Ben and Syrus. Ching won the scrum and Sam Robbens picked up and darted over. Unfortunately Max missed the conversion from out front ! At 9 mins Maldon cleared their lines. The ball was fielded by Syrus who ran strongly back, passed to Jack who got it out to Ben who outstripped the defence out wide to dot down under the posts. The game was blown to an end after Bens final conversion attempt was successful. A great start to the league season (this side have never lost a league game) with good performances by Jack, Nick, Syrus and Max supported by the entire squad (including old boy Reece, and the injured Daniel and Matt Marie). Ben won the man-of-the match award judged by the opposition. | 30 Oct 2011 | Friendly | Cheshunt RFC | Home | Win | 56 | 0 | Report | It was a scary start for the boys seeing a player looking exactly like Robbie Cook playing for the opposition, until we realised it was Robbie who was helping out as they only had 14 players. Ching quickly knuckled down to their work and they made great yards thanks to breaks by Matt, Nick and Jordan. A ruck was formed right on the line and Max was on hand to score the first try after 2 minutes. This set the tone for the match as Ching dominated possession and territory scoring again on 6 minutes thanks to a great drive by Jack and finish by Ben. Cheshunt began to press, with their main weapon kicking and chasing from their 22. It was one of these efforts on 11 minutes that got them into the Ching 22, but they spilt the ball, Max picked up and pushed off defenders to get his 2nd try of the day. At 15 minutes probably the best try of the day was when Cheshunt again kicked from their 22. The ball was fielded by Matt who launched an up and under sprinted after the ball. He re-gathered his own kick from the startled Cheshunt defender to score. The 5th try was scored from the half way when Ching won a scrum against the head, Max picked up and with too many Cheshunt tacklers hanging off, allowed Max to get his hat-trick on 20 mins. 5 minutes later and Ching were in a similar position, once again winning the scrum, this time the ball was fed out along the line for Ben to score his 2nd try and bring the half to an end with Ching in control at 36-0. The 2nd half began with Ching resting Matt and Max. Ching continued to play the better rugby and with 8 minutes gone, the line out was won (good work from Peter Young). Adam got the ball and ran on, linking up with Syrus who found Ben with a good pass, Ben cut inside then threw a long pass for Matt who had re-entered the fray to score his 2nd try. Ching had a few changes to their back line, but this did not dampen their attacking options, and 8 minutes later recycled the ball a couple of times for Sam Robbens to pick up and dart over. By now Cheshunt were looking deflated and 2 further trys to Max, the first a drive from half-way and the second where he ripped the ball from the opposition on the kick-off. Overall a good running display by Ching with great work from all of the team who linked well together. Stand-out performances from Jack, Nick, Syrus, Sam Fitzgerald, Conor and Max. Thanks to Robbie and Jordan for helping out the opposition. Scorers – Trys Max Rabey (5), Matt Lumb (2), Ben Maru (2), Sam Robbens Conversions – Ben Maru (2), Matt Lumb (1), Sam Fitzgerald, Adam Wakeling, Robbie Cook, Peter Young, Jordan Hillier, Brandon Cox, Nick Arnold, Max Rabey (c), Ellis Flaherty, Reece Daltrey, Conor Monaghan, Matt Lumb, Ben Maru, James Willis, Conor Monaghan, Syrus Nikbakht, Will McGillivray, Jack Johnson, Kyle, Charlie Wilkes |
| 6 Nov 2011 | Friendly | Wanstead RFC | Home | Win | 49 | 5 | Report | Chingford 49 – Wanstead 5 It was pleasing to see that Ching had almost a full strength squad to pick from. The game began with no team dominating, although Syrus was always looked dangerous whenever he had the ball. At 11 minutes Wanstead crossed the line but were held up. Ching managed to clear their lines thanks to good work from Sam Robbens and Patrick Love. A few minutes later and Ching were in striking distance which allowed Syrus to cut back in to score a strong try right up against the posts. Wanstead did not lie down and following a good series of runs and a drive, equalled the scores to bring the half to an end. Ching made some changes at half-time and the fresh legs had an immediate impact with Ching scoring within a minute – once again to Syrus who had switched from centre to the flank. Ching were winning the ball and controlling the game allowing for the space for their backs to run into. At 4 minutes Ellis ran in the 3rd try following a good pass out of the tackle from Ben. At 9 minutes there was some good rolling play by Will and Peter which allowed Max to peel away and get close to line. Sam Fitzgerald picked the ball up and drove over with Mat Lumb converting the try. Wanstead continued to try and play the rugby and won a line out in Chings 22. The ball was stolen by Jack and fed out to the backs with great linking from Reece to Matt Lumb who made a good break before offloading to Ben which resulted in Chings 5th try. At 14 minutes Max took the ball from the back of the ruck and fended off a couple of Wanstead tackles for the 6th try. Matt Marie came on and despite having had a broken ankle a few weeks ago looked really lively. Good ball was won again by the forwards with Brandon and Adam working particularly hard. The ball was fed out to Matt Lumb who showed his power and pace to get in at the corner. From the kick off Ching attacked again and Max had his 2nd try close from the line which Ben converted. With only a minute remaining Ching played their best team rugby of the game and strung together around 15 phases with great work from Nick, Reece, Max, Ben and Sam Robbens with the final exquisite pass from Ellis to Matt Marie to score the final try. Scorers – Trys Max Rabey (2), Syrus Nikbakht (2), Matt Lumb, Ben Maru, Sam Fitzgerald, Ellis Flaherty, Matt Marie Conversions – Ben Maru (1), Matt Lumb (1), Sam Fitzgerald, Adam Wakeling, Robbie Cook, Peter Young, Jordan Hillier, Brandon Cox, Nick Arnold, Max Rabey (c), Ellis Flaherty, Reece Daltrey, Conor Monaghan, Matt Lumb, Ben Maru, James Willis, Conor Monaghan, Syrus Nikbakht, Will McGillivray, Jack Johnson, Patrick Love, Sam Robbens, Charlie Wilkes, Matt Marie |
| 13 Nov 2011 | League | Stanford Le Hope RFC | Away | Win | 31 | 12 | Report | Chingford 31 – Stamford Le Hope 12 It was the boys second league game of the season against the other newly promoted team, Stamford. Ching couldn't’t have had a better start, with Max scoring within 45 seconds after winning good ruck ball and making a strong run. Matt Lumb converted from out front. For the next 10 minutes the game was a fairly even affair with Ching conceding penalties, but managing to keep Stamford at bay. At 11 minutes Sam Robbens won good ball and passed the ball out to the back line. Ben was tackled, but stayed on his feet and off-loaded to Max on the half-way line. Max made a great run towards the line, fending off tacklers for his 2nd try. Matt Lumb was successful with the conversion. Stamford then strung some good phases together and got close to the Ching line. Great tackles by all players, particularly Nick Arnold kept Stamford from scoring. At 16 minutes they were awarded a penalty on the Ching line and their strong centre took the ball at pace and crashed over. The next 4 minutes Ching upped the play, with great runs from Matt, Jack and Sam Fitzgerald. Ching won a scrum on the Stamford line, Max picked up from the back and went over for his hat-trick try. There was no further scores, leaving the half-time score 19-5. Stamford started the 2nd half the stronger team and Ching were forced to defend their line. A great clearing kick by Matt Lumb relieved the pressure and put Ching on the attack but Ching could not score. At 14 minutes Ching won a line-out on the Stamford 22, and the Ching forwards drove to the line. Sam Fitzgerald picked up the ball from the ruck and powered his way over the line for Chings 4th try with Ben adding the extra 2 points. Ching upped their game, and at 17 minutes were close to the line. Stamford were penalised for being off-side, Sam Robbens tapped the ball, fed a good pass to Reece who got quick ball to Matt Lumb who accelerated around his marker to score. Stamford were determined to finish the game off on a high, and made some good runs out wide, but great tackling from Ching kept them out. At 22 minutes they were awarded a tap penalty on the line, and once again their centre crashed over for his 2nd try which was converted. Shortly after the referee blew the game to an end with Chings 100% league record in tact ! Afterwards the Stamford coaches singled out Matt Lumb and Max as the players of the day, with Max having to down the drink because of Matts early departure. | 27 Nov 2011 | Cup | Rochford RFC | Home | Win | 60 | 14 | Report | Sunday 27th November Essex Cup 2nd Round Chingford 60 – Rochford 14 Ching knew that fellow 1st division team Rochford would give them a good game, and from the kick off Rochford threatened the Ching line. Good defence and aggressive running, particularly Jack and Syrus soon had Ching in the Rochford half. At 5 mins Ching won a ruck on the Rochford 22 and Sam Robbens got quick ball out to Ellis on the wing who went over for the first try. Rochford came back against Ching, but good drives by Nick and Max and strong forward work by Peter, Adam and Sam Fitzgerald soon had Ching back in the Rochford half. Ching made a good drive to the Rochford line and Max picked up the ball and dived over for the 2nd try at 9 mins. On 14 mins Ching won a scrum against the head and got quick ball out to the backs where Ben was tackled but kept his legs pumping in the tackle to force his way over for the 3rd try. Ching were playing good rugby but failed to make the most of their opportunities. At 20 mins Rochford were awarded a penalty on the Ching line and looked certain to score when Max ripped the ball from the tackle and sprinted the length of the field to score with Matt Lumb landing a good conversion. At 23 minutes Rochford were awarded another penalty on the Ching line, and made no mistake with a good try. 2 minutes later Ching won a scrum on the half-way line and got quick ball out to the backs. Ben dummied and then cut inside to score and convert his own try to leave the half-time score at 31-7. Ching started the 2nd half full of running and a great break by Nick Arnold soon had Rochford under pressure. Their clearing kick found Matt Marie on the half-way line who went wide, cut back inside and then jinked his way through the rest of the defence to score a fantastic try. Rochford would not lie down and at 5 minutes scored their 2nd converted try after getting the ball out wide and around the Ching defence. Ching then played their best rugby of the game, with a great score at 9 minutes to Ben following good work by Sam Robbens and Reece. This was followed by the best team try which involved 2 miss passes and a great pick up by Ellis running at full speed. With 10 minutes to go, Ching were running the show and a kick into space, and great chase by Matt Lumb caused havoc in the Rochford defence. Syrus arrived and picked up the ball to get Chings 9th try of the morning. The final try of the game suitably went to Max who ripped the ball from the tackle at half-way and ran unopposed to the line. The icing on the cake was him converting his own try. Once again a great team performance with everyone playing great linking rugby and, more importantly advancing to the next stage of the cup competition. | 11 Dec 2011 | League | Brentwood RFC | Home | Loss | 0 | 29 | Report | Chingford 0 – Brentwood 29 The boys knew that Brentwood who had a very physical pack and strong running backs would give them a good game. Despite the quality on show, Ching forced Brentwood into many handling errors in the opening minutes. When Ching did get the ball to their backs, Brentwood were onto them quickly nullifying the Ching attack. At 7 minutes Brentwood were awarded a penalty on the Ching line, got the ball out wide and scored the opening try. For the rest of the half Ching competed well and should have gone into the break 5-0 down, but a last minute try, once again scored out wide doubled the Brentwood lead to 10-0 at the break. The physical effects of the game were being felt by Ching which resulted in injuries to Reece and Syrus. Jack, who was under the weather all week was also subbed. The second half began with Brentwood eager to score, and fantastic tackles, particularly by Emmanuel, Patrick and Matt Marie kept them at bay. With 10 minutes gone, Brentwood won a scrum on half-way and shifted the ball out to their backs for a great running try to make it 17-0. Ching hit back and good play by Max, Matt Lumb, Ben and the reliable Matt Marie at full back gave Ching a chance, but unfortunately the bounce of the ball and passing let them down. Further injuries to Nick Arnold and Patrick meant that Ching were unable to contain Brentwoods 4th try which was the result of a good backs move. The final try was scored right on full time and was due to the physicality of Brentwood and their driving play. Overall the scoreline did not reflect the game, with Ching holding Brentwood in many aspects of the game. Certainly line outs and rucks Brentwood dominated, with Ching needing to improve. The man-of-the-match voted by the opposition went to Matt Marie for his many great tackles, catching of the high ball and effective counter-attacking. Sam Fitzgerald, Adam Wakeling, Jordan Hillier, Peter Young, Jack Johnson, Syrus Nikbakht, Nick Arnold, Max Rabey (c), Sam Robbens, Reece Daltrey, Ellis Flaherty, Matt Lumb, Ben Maru, Patrick Love, Matt Marie, Will McGillivray, James Willis, Brandon Cox, Connor Monaghan, Emmanuel Falola |

| 8 Jan 2012 | Friendly | Thurrock RFC | Away | Win | 27 | 19 | Report | Happy new year to everyone ! This rearranged game did not start Chings way with Thurrock having the play early on. At 3 minutes Ching won a scrum, spun the ball out left, then recycled the ball quickly out to Ben who avoided tackles to score. For the next 10 minutes the game see-sawed with Ching conceding penalties at the set pieces. At 20 minutes against the run of play Thurrock turned the ball over and gave it out to their large centre who broke several tackles to score, which was converted. From the kick-off Reece tackled the receiver and managed to gain the ball. From the subsequent ruck Ching spun the ball out for Matt Lumb to score in at the corner. At 24 minutes Matt Lumb kicked the ball high out of defence and followed up his own kick. The bounce favoured him and he collected the ball to score with Syrus converting. HT 7-17 The 2nd half Ching began by conceding more penalties, and after talking back to the referee were penalised on their line. At 4 minutes Thurrock tapped the ball and fed to their big centre who crashed over. From the kick-off Matt Lumb fielded the ball and launched a high up and under, re-gathered to score his hat-trick try. For the next 20 minutes Ching were on the wrong side of refs decisions including a disallowed try for Matt due to a hand-off. Thurrock made the end of the game interesting with their big centre (now at no. 8) crashing over after another penalty on the Ching line. From the kick off, new boy Sam Mellen gathered the ball and charged into the Thurrock half. The ball was quickly recycled and spun out wide for Syrus to score and end the game. FT 19-27. | 22 Jan 2012 | League | Braintree RFC | Home | Win | 27 | 15 | Report | Chingford U14 27 Braintree U14 15 This was the first time that Ching had played Braintree, and were determined to get their league challenge back on track after the loss to Brentwood. The game started with Ching attacking but after a good clearing kick and follow up were soon defending their line. Following a series of penalties, at 4 mins Braintree chose to kick at goal and were successful. Ching tried to get on top of the game, but the sizeable Braintree players had other ideas. At 10 mins Braintree were camped on the Ching line and Braintree were unlucky not to score. Ching cleared the ball, which was gathered by the Braintree full-back who ran the ball back to the middle and from the quick ball which they won, spun it out wide to score, gaining a 10 point lead. At 16 minutes following a great scrum won by Ching, the ball was spun out to Matt Lumb who accelerated past his marker to score in the corner. The half was brought to an end with a successful kick by Ching leaving the half-time score at 10-10. Within 2 minutes of the 2nd half Ching were awarded a penalty which they tapped and Sam Mellen ran at the Braintree defence. Whilst he was held, he laid the ball back to Max who barged his way over to score with Matt Lumb landing a good conversion to gain the lead at 17-10. Braintree worked hard and managed to once again get back into Ching territory with a hard physical effort. Once again a clearing kick was gathered by Braintree which they turned into attack and scored out wide, but failed to convert leaving them narrowly behind at 17-15 with 20 mins to go. Ching began to counter the physical game of Braintree led by Jack, Sam Mellen and Max. At 11 mins Braintree conceded a penalty just outside their 22. Ching elected to go for goal with Matt Lumb landing the penalty to extend Chings lead to 20-15. Braintree then attacked the Ching line. A great tackle by Max turned the ball over and got the ball back to Matt Lumb who launched a great clearing kick which was taken over the line by the Braintree defender. Ching won the subsequent line-out and spun the ball out to Matt Lumb who once again beat his defender to score in the corner and convert his own try leaving Ching with a 27-15 lead. The last 8 minutes of the game was a hard-fought encounter with Ching hanging on for a deserved win. Great performances by all of the players with good work by Matt Marie, Syrus Nikbakht, Sam Robbens and Matt Lumb who had a near faultless game at inside centre.
